“What is a dental bridge?”
I'm a 50 year old male and my dentist suggested we replace some of my teeth with a dental bridge. What is a dental bridge?

A bridge is a number of crowns connected together to span an area which is void of teeth. Some can replace anywhere from one tooth to as many as all the teeth in say the upper or lower jaw.
Dental bridge is one more way to replace missing tooth or teeth. The key factor is the health of the teeth anchoring for the missing teeth. Depending on many factors, such as bone quality, your bite, etc... bridge may be chosen instead of dental implant.

A dental bridge are crowns splinted together to replace a missing tooth. The bridge is supported by one tooth behind and one in front of the missing one.
Good morning. To answer your question, a dental bridge is one of the options to replace missing teeth. It involves placing false crown called pontics supported by crowns placed on natural teeth called abutments. Although this is an option, one must be aware of a short span bridge usually one to two missing teeth vs. a long span bridge 3 or more missing teeth. Something else to take into consideration is the ease for oral hygiene. Talk to your dentist for more information.
Good luck.
Good luck.
A dental bridge places crowns on existing teeth and connects them to look like there is a tooth in place of the tooth that is missing.
A dental bridge is an appliance that can be a "fixed" bridge where you prepare the adjacent teeth and connect them together while splinting your existing teeth to one or more missing teeth. THIS WAY YOU HAVE YOUR OWN TEETH SUPPORTING ANY MISSING ONES. Obviously, your dentist can explain it as he has X-rays. A different type is a removable bridge that you take out to clean. This option is not as desirable. A third option is to use implants to replace missing teeth.
A “dental bridge” is a prosthesis replacing missing teeth that is fixed (not removable) to the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth or teeth space. Unless done very precisely, the prosthesis can lead to loss of one or both adjacent teeth. Many general practitioners do this infrequently and in many cases it is not a good service for the patient. Seek the services of a board certified prosthodontist for this procedure.
