What is the best painkiller for a tooth extraction?

I am a 38 year old female. I want to know what is the best painkiller for a tooth extraction?

Hello,

The best painkiller for a tooth extraction is highly dependent on the person having the extraction. Remember different people have different perception of pain (aka high or low pain tolerance). Some people also have medication restrictions; for example ibuprofen irritates their stomach, or interferes with another medication they are taking. Keeping this is mind the doctor will usually advise some over-the-counter drug like ibuprofen (advil and motrin are the same thing) to be taken regularly for few days. The biggest part about pain management is staying ahead of the pain, not waiting until you feel pain and then try to knock it down. If this regimen does not work for you the doctor may prescribe tylenol #3, vicodin, or percocet (usually in this order) to reduce the pain down to a level manageable with ibuprofen.
Hope this helps.

My best to you!

Depends how much pain you have. Percocet is good for severe pain.
Hi.

There is no best painkiller. You should take OTC painkiller first and adjust the frequency and dose of painkiller.
