A needle biopsy under radiation control, only a local anesthesia will usually suffice. For open surgical biopsy, patient or doctor’s preference will prevail.
Local with IV sedation or GENERAL Endotracheal anesthesia.
For breast biopsies, we typically use local anesthesia plus monitored anesthesia sedation.
It would depend on the type of biopsy planned size and location of the mass, and whether a needle or open biopsy, and if the surgery is just limited to the biopsy. If a needle biopsy, then usually a local anesthetic can be used. If a larger mass or an open biopsy is required then usually general anesthesia may be utilized. The best idea is to speak with your surgeon what exactly will be done, and what anesthesia he is planning to do.
Usual anesthesia technique is sedation by anesthesiologist plus local anesthesia by surgeon. If the procedure is going to be more extensive, regional blocks with injections near the ribs or back can be used. Also, general anesthesia can be used.
It can be done under local anesthesia with little sedation. This is a little better that you don't have to go under general anesthesia, less side effects.
Depends upon lession. Could be local with intravenous sedation or general
