Orthopedist Questions Hand Surgery

What should I know going into my hand surgery follow up?

I needed to have hand surgery last week and so far, everything seems to be all right. I had the surgery for my trigger finger. My follow-up is at the end of this week; what do you think I should expect out of my follow-up?

Suture removal and exercises to get moving.
Most likely, they will remove stitches and check the wound for any sign of infection, which is not that common. If the wound is healing well, they will instruct you on a therapy program either on your own or with an occupational therapist if needed.

Wound check, check range of motion, exam the hand, offer additional advice rx for wound care/stitches as/if needed, offer exercises or therapy, talk about activity, offer follow-up if needed, discuss return to work - all these things are commonplace.
Not much is required at follow up for a trigger finger surgery. You should be ready with any questions you have for your doctor. You should be ready to work on some range of motion and do some exercises. Beyond that, relax and enjoy your follow up visit!
