I am a 38 year old female. I will have an acupuncture session next week. What should you do after an acupuncture session?

Rest. Hydrate adequately. Sleep 8 hours.
Unless you had cupping or gua sha, you should be free to go about your daily tasks. you may want to rest a bit or drink extra water, but you should be good to go.
If possible rest and hydrate. Things you should not do are work out, drink alcoholic beverages and expose yourself to extreme temperatures
After your acupuncture treatment, it is best to drink water and to relax for at least a couple hours. You want the treatment to have a chance to deepen and hold. If you are being treated for a physical, musculo-skeletal issue, make sure you do not over use that part of the body. Although the pain or discomfort may be reduced or eliminated, it will still need time to heal.

Here are our recommendations:
1. Eat a small meal before.
2. If you are doing physical therapy or chiropractic, a different day is preferable to schedule your appointment.
3. It is not recommended to go to the gym afterwards.
4. Relaxation is the best after your acupuncture treatment. If you have to go or go back to work it is fine, just no physical activities.
5. Do not skip meals (3 meals a day is ideal).

Hi,
You can do everything normally after an acupuncture session. Just drink more warm water to cleanse and hydrate. Your acupuncturist will tell you what to do more in detail.

Just enjoy the peaceful, relaxing, and painless times, but the most important thing is to obey your acupuncturist who knows you well.

Me? Wait for the next patient. You, go to take care of your life since you should be feeling much better than when you came in. Enjoy it!

In the words of my teacher, no sex, drugs or rock and roll. Generally speaking, you want to rest after your treatment and not consume any alcohol. If your acupuncturist works with your muscles and you're feeling sore, apply some heat.
A few things to do after an acupuncture session is to rest, adequate water, and refrain from rigorous physical activity for the next few days.
Most patients feel very relaxed and/or energized after acupuncture treatment. You don’t need to do anything special after your session except to enjoy this! Of course, making sure you are adequately hydrated will help, along with good nourishment to promote the healing process.
After each acupuncture, we encourage people drinking plenty of fluids and not to go to participate in heavy activities, such as gym exercises or a race.
It all depends on how you feel after a treatment. The treatment is re-establishing your body's natural energy cycles and you biological systems, so if you feel hungry after then eat, if tired, rest; if active then get some chores done or do some work.
Everyone responds differently with acupuncture and it can be different each time, so it is always best to follow how your body responds. Your practitioner may have additional advice for you specifically, so ask them directly if they have any specific advice for your situation.
Good luck.

Usually, people like to leave acupuncture and go home since they are very relaxed. I do see patients during the day on their lunch breaks, etc., so I tell them to drink plenty of water and eat a nice meal afterward. You can certainly resume daily activity, but people like being able to keep that relaxed mindset and just go home to unwind.
After the doctor takes off the needles, you should still lay down on the table about 2-3 minutes, and within 2 hours please don't take a shower or bath.
I don't typically give acupuncture patients any specific after-care instructions. You might feel a little lethargic or light-headed after a treatment. If this occurs, having a small meal or light snack just before or just after will usually take care of the issue. Otherwise, you should be able to go about the rest of your day.
For treatments that involve cupping or guasha (scraping), there can sometimes be after-care instructions.
It's always a good idea to check with your provider on the way out to see if there's anything specific they want you to do or want you to avoid.
