Cardiologist Questions Heart Valve Replacement

What side effects should I report after heart valve surgery?

Hello, I'm male and 42 years old. Recently, I had my heart valve surgery and I'm going to follow up with my cardiologist at the end of this week to discuss any side effects. I've been feeling exhausted ever since the surgery, which was performed 2 and a half weeks ago. Should I report this to my cardiologist?

Talk with your doctor
You should discuss any symptoms you may have with your cardiologist. They will know your history and the specifics about your valve surgery and order any tests they feel are needed.
There are no side effects of valves. But a side effect of surgery is tiredness from blood loss anemia and having to burn protein to heal your wounds. Beta blockers used to help blood pressure and allow you to live longer after heart surgery will also make you fatigued. Metoprolol is one.
