What to eat after getting a root canal?

I am a 37 year old female. I will have a root canal. I want to know what to eat after getting a root canal?

After a root canal, it is recommended to avoid any hard foods on the tooth. Things like ice or hard nuts could possibly crack the tooth while it is in temporary state. After a root canal tooth is restored with a crown, one can typically resume eating normally.
Anything you want to. Just avoid anything too hot until the numbness has worn off so that you don't burn your mouth.
Hi,

Typically, you can eat what you want. Most of the time, normal chewing habits are restored after a root canal has been done!
Hello,

Sorry to hear about your need for a root canal. Your experience after the root canal is going to depend on what condition the tooth is in and which tooth it is. If the nerve inside the tooth has already started to become necrotic (die off from inflammation), then you are less likely to have discomfort after the fact. These people tend to have the root canal and never look back. They do not usually have a problem with eating after the root canal. However, if your nerve inside the tooth is alive and healthy then you may experience discomfort after your root canal and you will limit the amount you eat naturally. The location of the tooth is important to what foods you eat because if it is a front tooth you can avoid using it by cutting your food up with a fork and knife. If it is a back tooth, we used those teeth to chew with so avoiding it is more difficult. That being said, you can chew on the other side for the time being until any discomfort is gone. You may want to avoid foods that are very chewy or hard.
Hope this helps.

My best to you!

We advise soft foods for several days or until you have had the tooth restored permanently with a crown.
There are multiple answers to this question each of which depend on the physical state of the tooth prior to having the root canal. The general answer would be to eat virtually anything you would normally eat if the tooth is not uncomfortable. If the tooth hurts don't eat that particular food as it may be too course or tough for the tooth to tolerate immediately following the treatment. If there is constant pain be sure to see your dentist as generally a tooth at least starts to feel better after root canal treatment. I have found the most common reason for post operative pain following a root canal is a premature contact (high filling or restoration) that contacts its apposing tooth before the rest of the teeth contact. If the tooth was badly broken down prior to the root canal treatment you might be cautioned by your dentist to stay with somewhat softer food until a final restoration, usually a crown, is placed to protect the tooth from fracture since the root canal has allowed the tooth to become pain free and biting might be too vigorous.
Hello,

Just be sure to avoid anything hard (like nuts) or chewy/sticky (taffy, gum, etc.) while you have the temporary filling until you get your permanent filling (i.e., crown or restoration).
Hope this helps!

Hi,

You can eat normally after a root canal, once the numbness wears off. Try to avoid chewing hard, on the side where the root canal was done until you get your crown.

It is best foods to eat soft foods. This can range from apple sauce, yogurt, ice cream, mashed potatoes and avoid hard crunchy foods like nuts. It is best to drink cold drinks and avoid very hot drinks and soups. If you are prescribed anti inflammatory  medication and prefer natural, holistic foods, consider an anti inflammatory diet consisting of spinach, kale, salmon, tuna tomatoes, blueberries, cherries and oranges. I like to drink Tart Cherry juice and it a a great sleep aid.

Avoid hard foods on that tooth until your dentist puts a crown (also called a cap) on it or a permanent filling.
What to eat after a root canal ... soft foods for a day or 2. Then eat whatever you want as long as you’re comfortable.
The day of your root canal, by sure to eat soft but nutritious foods. Soups, smoothies, yogurt, potatoes, pancakes, etc. By eating soft foods, you’ll be less likely to accidentally bite your lip or tongue.

Thanks for your question. There is really no reason why you should not be able to eat anything after root canal, we do advise generally after any dental treatment that you wait to allow your local anesthesia effects to wear out before massive chewing, so has not to hurt yourself, your tongue or abnormally chew yourself. Also, your treating dentist may give you specific instructions per chewing or eating, please ensure you follow your treating dentist instructions after each procedure.
Thank you.
Most normal foods, but hard foods may place pressure on said tooth, causing a bit of pain.
You should avoid eating anything hard on the tooth that had the root canal for at least 2-3 days, and if the tooth also needs a crown, avoid anything hard until after you get the crown. Soft foods such as soup, mashed potatoes, yogurt, pasta, rice and sushi are recommended.
Hi,

You can eat all, just bite carefully.
