Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions Tooth extraction

When can I eat normally after tooth extraction?

I have to get one of my upper teeth extracted at the end of this week. I just want to know when can I eat normally after the tooth extraction?

Depends on what you consider normally. Could take several weeks or a few days.
Soft diet the same day, and gradually regular foods in 2-5 days.
If it is a simple extraction with no grafting or anticipation of an implant. You can eat as soon as the numbness wears off. Just being carful, because if you bite on the area, it could be sensitive. More complicated situations might require different instruction. The surgeon that removes the tooth can best give you instructions specific to your situation.
Generally, you can eat normally after about 3-7 days. The variation on the time depends on the size of the extracted tooth, the presence of sutures, and the rate of healing of the patient. Your dentist will be able to give you a more accurate time estimate after the extraction is completed.
Hello,

Usually, I tell patients to wait one or two weeks after a tooth extraction depending on the difficulty to resume a normal diet. And immediately you want to stick with soup and soft foods...nothing hard and crunchy like peanuts or popcorn.
Thank you.
