“When do you need a pacemaker?”
When is a pacemaker recommended for patients? My father's doctors said that he may need one in the coming future, but they want to monitor him closely before the time comes.

This is a broad question. But usually, when the heart rate drops into the 30 BPM or a pause in the rhythm of 3 seconds or more. However, one may put in under less stringent conditions if the patient is symptomatic.
