Where do acupuncture needles go for fertility?

I am a 27 year old female and I want to get acupuncture to increase fertility. Where do acupuncture needles go for fertility?

Mainly acupuncture needles were placed around abdomen and legs, also, arm and head if anxiety and stress are also issues.
Each practitioner will put needles in different places, depending on the protocols they have learned. Also, what the acupuncturist finds in your tongue and pulse will determine where they put the needles.
It depends on what is causing your infertility. In general we use SP6, Zi gong, Rn4, RN 6, Kd3, etc
There is much diversity in our field. What I might do versus another practitioner's plan might be quite different. Personally, I don't like local points for treatment, though there are some powerful points between the pubic symphysis and the umbilicus that might be good to use. I like to use distal or far away treatments as my personal approach. But you might ask 4 different acupuncturists and get 4 different answers...
Hi,
You ask a very good question and most of people have that as well.

Acupuncture needle is a tool to help you balance your hormone and also ease your stress from fertility. It depends on what your body need. Everyone's body is slightly different, that is why acupuncture needle could in different place. The points for fertility are major near ankle, feet and hands, few might be in the back.

Hope this answer your question.

Good luck and hope hear your great news soon

There are many different acupuncture points that help with fertility. If you are choosing to have acupuncture treatments, you may have needles placed in your back, abdomen, arms and legs. The acupuncturist would do an assessment and according to that assessment, would place needles where you need them. I have great success with acupuncture and fertility in my practice. Good Luck!
Hi,

Most Korean doctors do hands and feet, but it all depends on the practitioner. Please consult your local acupuncturist.

I’d tell you a joke about a blunt needle but it’s pointless.

The needles are usually sterile, disposable and for single use but, ask your acupuncturist. A special guide tube helps to aid in the needle insertion making it relatively painless.

The location of the acupuncture needles aren't going necessarily be the same for every woman who is being treated for infertility. This is because not every woman's infertility is caused by the same underlying pattern of imbalance. There are also different styles of acupuncture treating. One popular style is called TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) which differentiates infertility into different patterns for example dampness or phlegm, heat, blood stagnation, etc.

Based on your answers to 10 questions regarding your sleep, digestion, energy level, temperature, etc along with a pulse & tongue diagnosis, the skilled acupuncturist can determine which pattern you have and then use the appropriate point prescription which is used to treat that pattern.

Most of the needles are usually inserted relatively shallow under the skin on acupuncture points which are located below the elbows & knees, some are on the torso and even on occasion on the head or ears.

Your body can change during your course of treatment and your acupuncturist may use different points from time to time.

One of the most important goals in fertility treatment is to regulate the menstrual cycle. This means addressing any aspects of an irregular, long, short, heavy, scanty, or painful menstrual cycle as well as if there are clots present in the menses which can be a symptom of blood stagnation and is usually accompanied by dark distended sublingual veins (under your tongue).

I hope that you find this information helpful.
Patients who are considering acupuncture for fertility might have different conditions causing this issue so the acupuncture needles might be placed in different acupuncture points throughout the body.

Depending on the practitioner’s training, could be anywhere really! Most common are lower abdominals, lower back, even legs! It really depends.
Hi. It depends. Mainly in legs or hands. Also may be abdomenal or low back area.
Thank you for your question.

I do not treat infertility per se.

In general, acupuncture is based on your specific needs and imbalances in the Tradition Chinese Medicine model, hence needle placement can vary.

Speak with your acupuncturist about your treatment plan and needle placement, and the rational for the chosen points. Placement can also change from session to session based on your response.

Kind Regards,
Dr. B
It depends on the situation and timing. It could be in back, abdomen, hands, or feet.

It would actually depend on what the acupuncturist finds you need. But in short, the needles can go anywhere on legs, arms, torso and ears.
Yes
Yes, they can increased fertility. Typically, in the extremities, back, and abdomen.
That all depends on what is the cause of your infertility. In general and for any conditions, there are usually points selected locally (in the area of complaint), and distally (away from the area of complaint), that work together to alleviate symptoms and treat the cause of the condition. For example, you may have points in your hands and feet to increase blood circulation, but also applied to your lower abdomen to direct blood flow through that area.
It depends on your differential diagnosis. You would have to be assessed and diagnosed for your individual case before that question can be answered.
it is the mind-body approach.
It depends on your conditions. Some needles will be put in your belly area, some will be put in your back, some needles will be put in your limbs.
Hello and thank you for your question! Needle placement varies from person to person based on the Chinese medical diagnosis which your Licensed Acupuncturist or Chinese Medical Physician will determine based on past history, current symptoms, and examination of the tongue and pulse. Points are located along specific channels in your body, and are located on the arms, legs, chest, abdomen, back, and head/face (more simply, across your entire body). You will more likely receive points on your arms and legs and abdomen, but again, based on your presentation, other points may be used.
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine sit on top of an entirely different model for how the body works. Part of this model recognizes the uniqueness of each individual patient - not everyone experiences a health issue for the same reason even if the outward manifestation of that problem appears the same or similar.

On top of this, there are multiple different systems of acupuncture which different practitioners might be utilizing in their treatments.

All of which is a long winded way of saying there's no set "protocol" for an acupuncture treatment. Where the needles go is going to depend on what system of acupuncture your provider practices and what your individual diagnosis ends up being.
