Why am I bleeding after colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy today. No polyps or anything removed. But when I got home, I had bled about a teaspoon bright right red. Is that a little or a lot, and what to do?

A small amount of blood after a colonoscopy is not uncommon. This can happen from the mere trauma of the colonoscope. If the bleeding continues you should alert your endoscopist immediately!
Notify the physician who did the procedure.
It is possible to have some bleeding after a colonoscopy for few days. It usually self resolves after few days. If it persists please contact your gastroenterologist.
A small amount of bleeding can be normal but if the bleeding increases in amount and/or frequency or if you develop fever call your doctor immediately.
