Endometriosis Increases Ovarian Cancer Risk, Study Reveals

The ovarian cancer link

The association between endometriosis and ovarian cancer has been reported for decades, but only recently research has developed to support more rational methods for preventing the cancer. There are 22,000 new cases of ovarian cancer diagnosed every year. And although the risk of developing ovarian cancer is low, it is the deadliest gynecologic cancer.

Endometriosis is much like cancer. It is characterized by recurrent, unregulated cell proliferation and estrogen dependent growth. It also attaches, invades and damages tissues that it attaches to like cancer.
