Get to know Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist Dr. John Joseph Doyle, who serves patients in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Doyle is a cardiovascular anesthesiologist who has been working at HCA Memorial Jacksonville in Florida since June of 2017.  He is experienced in transesophageal echocardiography, minimally invasive mitral valve repair, minimally invasive aortic valve replacement, cardiac surgery anesthesiology, and 4D mitral valve analysis.

Previously, he served as the Director of Cardiac Anesthesia at Orange Park Medical Center from October 2010 – June 2014, Baptist Medical Center Structural Heart program till 2017 and as a Senior Associate Consultant at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville from June 1997 – June 2001.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Doyle graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Stony Brook University. He then went on to earn his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine.

Furthering his training, he performed his internship in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven .He then completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Certified in transesophageal echocardiography by the American Board of Echocardiography, Dr. Doyle is also an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists.

With over 20 years experience in cardiac anesthesia, he has helped start numerous cardiac programs. Dr. Doyle has been a Florida Delegate to the American Society of Anesthesiology since 2015 and an Executive Board member of the Florida Society of Anesthesiology since 2013. He has also been the FSA PAC Chair the last three years and Membership Chair and Co- Chair since 2013, having served as District Director for NorthEast Florida since 2013.

From 2008 until 2015, he was an Alternate Delegate that attended every ASA meeting and faithfully sat in for delegates that were busy attending meetings during that time. The last five years, Dr. Doyle has attended the Legislative Washington D.C. Conference and the annual Tallahassee Meeting with elected Florida constituents and our Governor. 

His previous volunteer experience was with University of Miami Project Medishare where he spent 10 days in Haiti during the earthquake. Currently, he helps with Feeding Northeast Florida, with pantry support feeding the homeless.

Dr Doyle was awarded the Florida Society of Anesthesiology’s  FSA Presidential Award in 2019 in recognition of his personal time and dedication to the practice of Anesthesiology . 

Likewise, he is an HCA physician and a member of the Structural Heart Program at Level 2 Memorial Hospital, specializing in TAVR,  Mitraclip, Watchman procedures, mitral valve repair, and robotic lungs.

Cardiothoracic anesthesiology is a subspeciality of the medical practice of anesthesiology, devoted to the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of adult and pediatric patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery and related invasive procedures. During surgery, the cardiovascular anesthesiologist stays in the operating room as a vital part of the surgical team. He or she makes decisions about how to protect and regulate any of the organ systems by using advanced technology to monitor not only body functions but also the appropriate anesthetic medicines.

In his free time, Dr. Doyle is a father to two young teenagers Hunter and Sean, and very busy with being an Uber dad driving them to all their sports activities. He is a member of the USA Cycling Association and a competitive Cat 3 cyclist who qualified for the Masters USA Nationals and a silver medalist in the Florida State Time Trials.
