Is my ankle broken or sprained?
You need to go to an urgent care or emergency room and obtain x-rays RIGHT away and then obtain a referral for treatment to an orthopedist or foot and ankle specialist. READ MORE
Both feet are swollen?
I would be concerned about a blood clot and therefore you should see your surgeon RIGHT away. We usually obtain a Doppler study to make sure you do not have a blood clot. Compression stockings and elevating your feet will be helpful. READ MORE
Neck pain with bowel movement?
Applying pressure with bowel movement does increase spinal pressure resulting in your neck pain. Therefore make sure that her stools are soft so you do not have to apply a lot of pressure. Prunes and a lot of fiber containing foods will help. READ MORE
Does climbing stairs help strengthen the knee after a miniscus surgery?
I do not recommend stairmaster for rehab. Often times it is actually the source of knee pain. My preference is to recommend the treadmill, stationary bike and elliptical for rehab. READ MORE
Walking boot?
Walking boots are always helpful to treat ankle sprains. The length needed depends on the severity of the ankle sprain. Somewhere 2-6 weeks is reasonable. If there is minor swelling and minor pain then it should recover fairly rapidly. However if there is a lot of swelling, black and blue and significant pain you should obtain an x-ray to make sure you do not have a fracture or other serious injury. READ MORE
Can chiropractic adjustment cause headaches?
Chiropractic adjustments can actually frequently relieve headaches. But it is true that sometimes they cause a headache. The headache should be transient but if becomes intense or more constant you may need to have an evaluation including brain and neck MRI study. READ MORE
Disc bulge?
The treatment depends on how significant the bulges were. Usually disc bulges are measured in millimeters and then the spinal canal is measured. If the disc bulge involves more than 50% of the spinal canal size than it is considered very significant. You definitely need to be evaluated by a specialist. Treatments include physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, spinal injections and if all fails surgery. READ MORE
Can walking on a sprained knee make it worse?
Although it is difficult to determine the severity of your knee injury without actually examining it, in general if after the injury you are able to walk fairly well then prognosis is good for recovery. If after the injury you had significant difficulty putting weight on her leg and still do then you likely have a serious injury and should be evaluated as soon as possible. READ MORE
Is a sleeve or strap better for tennis elbow?
They can be both helpful. I prefer the strap but you can try one or the other or both to see which one you would like. READ MORE
Lower leg and knee pain?
There is probably something wrong. You should have an evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon or a physical medicine specialist. READ MORE
Right wrist?
Sounds very serious. You should be evaluated as soon as possible by hand or orthopedic specialist and have x-rays and possible MRI to diagnose her condition and be provided with further treatment. READ MORE
Popped ankle?
It is difficult to determine what is going on without exam and x-rays. I would advise you return to the doctor that put on the cast so they can look at you again. READ MORE
Aching calf muscles and numb cold toes?
Sound serious. There could be a number of things wrong. You should seek medical evaluation as soon as possible. You should see your own doctor or if they are not available go to a local urgent care or emergency room. READ MORE
Fixing stubborn trigger finger?
You should strongly consider a cortisone or a PRP injection. They are both effective in my experience. PRP is more expensive. Most of the time this will resolve your problem. If it does not then surgery is highly successful with nearly 100% success rate. It can be done under local anesthesia if you do not want to have general anesthesia and it is a simple outpatient procedure. READ MORE
Is massage or chiropractor better for foot pain?
They can both be very effective. READ MORE
What happens if you leave a bunion untreated?
Nothing really bad. You should wear wide shoes to avoid pressure on your bunion. Unless the pain becomes disabling do not consider surgery. READ MORE
Is acupuncture good for neck and shoulder pain?
It can be very effective. In my practice we use alternatively physical therapy, chiropractic and acupuncture to help resolve these issues. Each method can be very effective in some people but does not work for everybody. READ MORE
Elbow pain?
Tennis elbow usually implies pain on the lateral side of the elbow. What you are describing is abnormality on the medial or inside the elbow. So that finding may not be the source of her pain. READ MORE
Soft tissue injury?
I would need to know more about how you injured your wrist. But the picture you sent shows the wrist to be swollen. You need to be examined and have initial x-rays and possibly an MRI scan to further evaluate your injury. Do not delay seeing a physician that can evaluate your problem. READ MORE
Is massage or chiropractor better for scoliosis?
I would need to know your age. If you are under 18 years of age, you should definitely see an orthopedic scoliosis specialist. Scoliosis in itself usually does not cause pain unless it is very severe. The chance of having back pain with mild scoliosis is the same as if your back was straight. If you have scoliosis but no pain there is no need for any type of treatment. If you are an adult and have some pain the cause may be something else such as myofascial pain, facet pain, or disc pain. In this scenario, massage therapy and chiropractic can be both very helpful. However, if the pain does not resolve after a few treatments you may wish to consult a specialist to obtain x-rays and/or MRI studies to diagnose the source of your pain. If MRI studies do not show any significant pathology, you can continue chiropractic and/or massage therapy as they can be both temporarily very beneficial. READ MORE
