  • Functional Fitness

Exercise is something we should all do to promote health and wellness as well as keep our bodies strong and resilient over the years. We all understand the importance of exercise in our daily lives and we try to fit it in as much as possible. Whether you are working out or engaged in an activity,...

  • What does a chiropractor do during an adjustment?

Chiropractors will examine your spine or other joint for dysfunction and adjust by applying manual pressure or by instrument. It’s a short quick thrust that is used to mobilize the joint properly. You may hear a slight pop sound as the joint releases but it’s not necessary for an adjustment to be done. Instrument adjusting is faster and doesn’t have any pop sound. Some just prefer it. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • Do chiropractors really move bones?

I would say yes, chiropractors do move bones from one position to another. It is not some great amount of movement like some people think. Rather, it is a subtle push and release of the bones that are out of position and restricted in their normal movements. It is usually a very small movement, but can have a big effect. READ MORE

  • I have lower abdominal pain?

This sounds like you may have a bit of a hernia happening, or at least the beginnings of. Feel around for any bulges in the lower abdomen or maybe be seen by the orthopedist and your doctor for that. Avoid any deadlifts for now or squats. Vishal K. Verma, DC, CCSP READ MORE

  • What does a misaligned spine look like?

It’s not so much what it looks like, but what it feels like. You will feel stiff and tight and will have mobility loss at the spine and pelvis. In other words, you will feel like you can’t move as well in one or more directions. An actual misaligned spine tends to be a more serious issue that needs to be confirmed via X-ray or MRI. The term "misalignment" could also just be your curves being off, which you could see on an X-ray. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • How can I adjust my wrists myself?

It is somewhat hard to do your own wrist adjusting, but you can do some mobilizations by doing basic movements of the wrist and applying pressure to the wrist with the opposite hand. There are some very good youtube videos on wrist mobilizations you can watch. As far as adjusting, you are better off trusting a sports chiropractor to do it. READ MORE

  • Why do my wrists hurt?

There could be many causes to wrist pain, including injury like lifting something improperly, repetitive activity like typing or mouse use, or something like carpal tunnel syndrome. It's best to have it evaluated by a doctor that can assess the wrist and ask all the pertinent questions necessary to diagnose it. READ MORE

  • How do chiropractors help sinus pain and pressure?

Depending on the training of the chiropractor, they may do an upper cervical adjustment to help reduce sinus pressure, use manual therapy techniques to help drain the sinuses, use instruments that can help relieve sinus pressure, or suggest natural remedies for home care that help reduce pain and pressure. Make sure to ask the chiropractor what they will specifically be doing to address the sinus issue. READ MORE

  • Can chiropractors adjust fingers?

Most chiropractors know some extremities adjustments. Sports trained chiros have specific training for injuries to fingers and other joints. Look for a chiro with CCSP or CCEP credentials. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • Why does cracking my back feel good?

That release you feel is good usually due to an endorphin release in your body that happens after adjustments. Also the joint “cracking” loosens you up which helps with overall tension relief. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • How do you professionally crack someone's back?

You cannot do it professionally, and I would not recommend it without proper training. It can cause injury if done improperly. Chiropractors train 4 years to do that professionally. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • What is the best treatment for tendonitis?

Depends on what stage the tendinitis is in. Early stage requires ice and rest with modification of activity. Middle to late stage requires heat, myofascial or soft tissue therapy or stretch, and exercises targeting the tendon. Also depends on where it is. Hip tendinitis is a little more difficult than knee or shoulder. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • Can chiropractors help with hip arthritis?

Yes, they can. A sports trained or orthopedic trained chiropractor would be best to determine the diagnostics and solution. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • What is the fastest way to heal a bulging disc?

Look up McKenzie exercises for bulging discs for some great ways to help heal a disc issue and any nerve pinching going on. You may also consider spinal decompression for treatment as well which helps to reduce the bulging disc physically. Coupled with the right exercises, you should have a full recovery. READ MORE

  • Is it safe to go to a chiropractor if you have arthritis?

Yes, it is safe to go with arthritis and most likely any arthritic symptoms will be helped with care. Any arthritic symptoms will be evaluated by the chiropractor and treated or left alone accordingly. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • Do chiropractors really move bones?

Yes, we do. The adjustment is designed to move one bone or a particular group of bones in the spine or other joint from one position to another to release the joint motion. That is why you hear the "pop" sound as the joint fluid pressure releases. READ MORE

  • What is the best natural muscle relaxer?

So, non-medically speaking, magnesium is a great relaxant for muscles. Medically speaking, I believe it’s flexiril. Depends on what you’re looking for. Heat can also help relax muscles as well. Use of infrared heat helps naturally. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • So my gf walked on my back?

I don’t think you will have to, but I suggest seeing either a massage therapist or chiropractor to have that area worked on to release it. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • Can leg length discrepancy be corrected?

It depends on if the leg length deficiency is an actual or apparent deficiency. In other words, an actual one would be due to a short leg since birth or after a growth plate injury when you were young. An apparent one is due to a pelvic tilt or other misalignment at the pelvis or knee or maybe even just a muscle imbalance. An actual deficiency is corrected by taking an X-ray and measuring the amount deficient and making a corrective heel lift or orthotic to level it. An apparent one can be helped with chiropractic manipulation of pelvis and/or knee as well as other physical therapy procedures. Have it checked out by a chiropractor to see what you have happening. READ MORE

  • Swelling in knee areas?

Hello, It sounds to me that you should focus on modification of activity rather than restricting them. For example, non impact exercise like bike and elliptical or walking. You should have the knees reevaluated as well to discover the muscle imbalances that there are. More than likely the swelling is in the soft tissue around the knees and they should be evaluated to help decrease the swelling. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE

  • When should I be concerned about rib pain?

Rib pain becomes a problem when it starts affecting your breathing or it radiates around to the front of your chest. You will have discomfort with inhale and exhale, which could mean rib subluxation and the need for chiropractic care. Vishal K. Verma, DC CCSP READ MORE
