Welcome to the office of Wynatte Chu, DDS. Our dentist and team are thrilled to serve patients of all ages. Our dentist and team provide comprehensive family dentistry. We strive to make everything look as aesthitically ideal as well as functional. Dr. Chu understands that you want a smile that is beautiful as well as healthy.

Our dental office is dedicated to using up-to-date technology and techniques so that you receive the best treatment possible. We use all-digital X-ray for diagnoses, soft tissue lasers for gum treatments, and metal-free restorations. We also use some of the best labs in the country for the construction of restorations.

At our office, you will always see our dentist and get almost undivided attention from her. Our office has an intimate feel as our team is small. We know everything that is going on with your treatment. We develop relationships with our patients and are always friendly and understanding. Many of our patients have been with us for a long time, so they have become like family

    You may taste a bit of blood in you saliva for a couple of days, but it should be very little.     The white coating could be simple dry mouth. If it goes away by drinking water, remember to drink water more frequently. If it persists with water, it could be some pathology that will need to be treated, like a fungal infection. I would suggest seeing your dentist, an oral surgeon or an oral pathologist for a consult.   • Does alcohol help tooth pain?

    Well, if you drink enough of it, you may forget about temporarily. However, you’ll wake up the next day with the toothache and a headache.     After you spit out your mouthwash, there may be a bit left over in you saliva. The small amount of remaining mouthwash in your saliva should not be harmful if you swallow it. READ MORE

    After implant surgery, is it not ideal to have bone exposed and may put the implant bone at risk of infection and failure. A suture may have popped. I would see your surgeon as soon as possible to evaluate and treat. READ MORE

  • How fast does gingivitis progress?

    It’s really heard say. There are a number of factors the determine the progress of gingivitis. If you suspect gingivitis, I would suggest that you so a few things. First and foremost is to make an appointment to get a check up and cleaning. If left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, which is inflammation of the surrounding tooth tissue. It is important to remove that plaque layer that harbors harmful bacteria. Second is to be diligent about your oral hygiene routine at home (i.e. brushing all tooth surfaces at least twice a day and flossing). You can also at a mouth rinse, like Listerine or Crest Pro Health, to give you that added layer of defense. READ MORE

    Besides trauma, the main cause of bleeding up is gingivitis, an inflammation in the gums, resulting from plaque build up around your teeth. If left untreated can, the gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, an inflammation of the tissue around the too, result in continued bleeding gums, increased pain and sensitivity, and bone loss.     Yes. A panoramic x-ray or a dental CT scan can show you an image of an impacted wisdom tooth. READ MORE

  • Can a decaying tooth cause jaw pain?

    Jaw pain in your area of your teeth can certainly be caused by a cavity. When to tooth has a cavity, you body react with pain. That pain tells the body that there is something wrong. An inflammatory response is the body’s reaction to heal the area. Because the tooth is stiff structure and a closed system with one way in and out, pressure builds up in the tooth causing pain. Inflammation continues to affect the area the pressures spreads to the bone resulting in jaw pain or a tooth ache. If you jaw pain is in your ear area, that may indicate a Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder. This is not associated with a tooth cavity. It can be the result of malocclusion (misaligned teeth), grinding or clenching. In both cases, I would advise consults you dentist as soon as possible.     Sorry hear you are experiencing pain in your implant. Pain is your body’s reaction, telling you there is some wrong (hence your question. Yes, duh). It is likely due to inflammation. So what is causing inflammation and how is it remedied. It could be a simple gingivitis, which will require some level of dental cleaning by a professional or on the other spectrum, it could be inflammation in the bone, which may require surgical intervention.     Toothpastes does not directly kill bacteria in your mouth. There are over 700 species of bacteria in your mouth. Some good and some bad. The antimicrobial I’m tooth weaken the bacteria from sticks to the heath plaque layer around your tooth and your teeth themselves. Once weakened, your regular oral hygiene routine (brushing, flossing and rinsing) will whisk the bad bacteria away leaving a clean surface for the good bacteria an healthy plaque layer to protect your teeth.     Swollen gums can be caused may by many different ailments if your mouth. If the swelling persists or produces blood or pus when touched, I would advise that you make an appointment with a dentist very soon. If it is minor swelling general swelling, it is likely gingivitis or periodontitis. An anti-bacteria mouthwash may help, but likely you are due for a professional dental cleaning and should make an appointment. Born in New York City and raised in Westport, Dr. Chu has deep roots in the communities she serves. She is currently serving patients’ dental needs at her private dental practices in New York City, New York and in Westport, Connecticut. At both practices, Dr. Chu and her team of professionals provide comprehensive family dentistry, utilizing up-to-date technology and techniques so that patients can receive the best treatment possible. They use all-digital X-ray for diagnoses, soft tissue lasers for gum treatments, and metal-free restorations.

After earning her bachelor’s degree at Mount Holyoke College in 1999, Dr. Chu completed graduate studies in molecular biology and genetics at Long Island University, where she was inducted into the Beta Gamma Chapter of the Phi Sigma Biological Honor Society. In 2004, she completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the New York University College of Dentistry, followed by additional studies in advanced techniques and technology, including Invisalign, soft tissue lasers, and dental implants.

Dr. Chu is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the New York State Dental Association, and the Connecticut State Dental Association.
