He is the Vice Chief of Medicine for Ascension Borgess Hospital and served on the Borgess Medical Executive Committee and is a Resident Teacher for Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies.

A year later, in 1997, he attained board certification in gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
