An experienced internist, Dr. Maldonado sees patients at his private practice in Naples, Florida. He became a physician because of a driving desire to help people, to care for them fully in their times of health crises and to assist them in developing the habits that would keep them healthy. That continues to be his goal today.
A native of Puerto Rico, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Puerto Rico and his medical degree at the University Central Caribe School of Medicine. Upon completion of his studies, he undertook a residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University Medical School/Evanston Hospital in Illinois.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Throughout his career, Dr. Maldonado gained a wealth of experience working as an attending physician for Humana Health Care at Evanston Hospital and for the Greater Miami Medical Group in Miami, Florida. At the Sheridan Health Corporation, he was named Regional Medical Director and was awarded a certificate of merit for Most Outstanding Performance Physician.
In 1998, Dr. Maldonado relocated to Naples and opened a private practice. He is affiliated with NCH Healthcare System and has admitting privileges at both Naples Community Hospital downtown and North Collier Hospital. He also has admitting privileges at both Physicians Regional Hospital locations on Pine Ridge Road and Collier Boulevard (SR951). He was a member of the NCH Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2007.
