What does bone loss in the teeth mean?
Bone loss is the term we as dentists use to describe the body's response to periodontal issues (gum disease). Your teeth are held in place by bone, and if you lose too much from around them, the teeth will become loose and there is a great risk of having them fall out or needing to have them extracted. Being diabetic, and if not well controlled, your body does not heal well and inflammation can reap havoc on your mouth. It's a two way street, uncontrolled diabetes more inflammation, more inflammation more difficult to control the diabetes. Correction can be done to a certain extent, it all depends how serious the problem is at this time. It is very difficult to regrow bone, but all things considered, the bone loss can be managed or controlled. Talk to your dentist about periodontitis and what issues you may have. READ MORE
Food getting stuck behind wisdom teeth

Why do some dentists hurt during cleanings more than others?
Whether your cleaning was by a dentist or hygienist, it does not have to be painful. The question is did they educate you about what was going on in your mouth. If your gums were inflamed to start with, why? What is the appropriate treatment for you, and how do you improve your personal brushing and flossing techniques to make things better. Education is the key. READ MORE

Wisdom teeth removal
Each doctor must determine their level of comfort and competence when choosing to extract teeth, in particular wisdom teeth. Some general dentists are very comfortable with difficult extractions, others are not. Oral Surgeons are trained to handle all types of extractions, and are trained to handle the potential complications that may occur. Not that general dentists can't do it, they have to decide on their individual competency. READ MORE
What if only one tooth is crooked?
It all depends on where and how out of line the one tooth is. Teeth move by constant pressure. In order to move one tooth the appliance must put pressure on that tooth, however it won't help if there is not enough space or it is 4 -5 mm out of line. READ MORE

Is water-flossing as effective as regular flossing?
The new water flossers have been shown to be more effective than the waterpiks of yesteryear. This has a lot to do with the amount of water pressure being used by the new water flossers. Regular floss, if used correctly is the best, but a water flosser can supplement the regular flossing. READ MORE
