He completed a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, was a registrar in thoracic surgery in Bristol, United Kingdom, and completed a peripheral vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto. He has been serving patients within a private practice in Amarillo, Texas, since 1993. Dr. AlZeerah also earned the coveted title of fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Canada. He is board certified in cardiology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and board certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Vascular Medicine. Dr. AlZeerah is also a clinical professor in the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Additionally, he maintains professional memberships with The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, and the Potter-Randall County Medical Society. In 2009, due to his accomplishments, he was the recipient of the Community Faculty Teaching Award by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.In 2019 he joined the VA Medical center in Amarillo as the Assistant Chief of surgery where he proudly serves the veterans.
