About

Mary Hills, LAc, DACM, is California State Certified with a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM), a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture & Herbology from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, and is a National Board Certified Diplomate (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture & Herbology. Currently, she has a thriving practice in Alpine, CA.

Mary believes that the human body is capable of healing itself, and that Chinese Medicine is a powerful tool to assist the body and mind in that process. The flow of Qi from organ system to organ system is the key to effective diagnosis and treatment. As an acupuncturist who has mentored with Dr. Martha Lucas in the pulse balancing method, Mary can address many issues, such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, fibromyalgia, asthma, gastrointestinal issues and women's issues including infertility, PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), and weight loss.

Acupuncture is a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) that originated in China over 5,000 years ago to balance the body, mind and spirit.  Hair thin, disposable needles are placed in energy channels that either begin, or end on the face. They work to modify the energy flow of a person’s body bringing itback into proper balance, while also increasing blood flow…if the flow of energy gets blocked, like water getting stuck behind a dam, the disruption can lead to pain, lack of function, or illness.

Acupuncture therapy can release blocks in the body and stimulate function, evoking the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems. Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture can help to resolve pain, and improve sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being.

Her scope of practice also includes pain syndromes, such as upper and lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, joint pain and injuries, peripheral neuropathy and arthritis, and headaches of all types, including migraines.

With the NADA protocol training, she is able to treat addictions, and ease tension and anxiety.

Trained in the art of Facial Rejuvenation and weight loss, Mary has studied Mei Zen protocols for weight loss, and facial and neck rejuvenation under Dr. Martha Lucas, and renowned Brazilian acupuncturist, Fernando Fernandez.

She has found joy in the pursuit of learning everything there is to know about Chinese Medicine and feels honored and privileged on a daily basis to have the chance to assist in dramatically changing people's lives. Whether it be reducing laugh lines, watching age spots disappear, or easing arthritic pain, she practices to whole heartedly help people on their path to beauty, health, and wellness.

Most insurance accepted, including VA.

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, acupuncture can help with knee pain. I have helped many people with this issue, Sometimes it is more difficult to treat when it is chronic and arthritic with bone on bone. There have been many studies that support acupuncture as a treatment for knee pain. Here is one of many studies...note that it does conclude that there is only short-term pain relief in patients with chronic knee pain due to osteoarthritis. Your situation would have to be evaluated...you are young, so, without actually seeing you, I would say that it could be very effective: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27655986/?from_term=acupuncture+knee+pain&from_pos=4 Mary Hills, DACM, LAc READ MORE
