I have gum recession. Is gum recession serious?

Yes,
If it is generalized it means periodontal disease ,
need general gum treatment,
If it is local (one tooth involved) could be Endodontic (root canal problem) issue or other issues like due to anatomic location related , etc…
Needs to be checked by dentist.
