Usually, a thyroid biopsy is done a bed side. It's called fine needle aspiration biopsy . It is not a painful procedure.
Thyroid biopsy requires only local anesthetic infiltration. Thyroid
lobectomy or total thyroidectomy calls for general anesthesia.
None

To give anesthesia to the neck hurts more than using a 27 gauge needle 3 times. So I done aye anesthesia. A thyroid aspiration takes less than 15 minutes
Local
Normally, local.
None is needed, the needle is very small. Still some practitioners use a little local lidocaine m, which is OK too.
