There is currently no Zika virus transmission in the USA. I would recommend that you and your daughter apply approved mosquito repellent that contains DEET or Picardin when at risk for bites. West Nile Virus, other encephalitis viruses and other diseases are spread by mosquitoes here.
If the mosquito is carrying the virus, you could be infected. You did not indicate where you live, but there does not seem to be much Zika around the USA now.

Zika, mostly spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, continues to be a problem in other parts of the world, but is no longer considered the threat it was in South Florida only two years ago when the virus swept across the area. If still concerned can review with your physician if a blood test is warranted.
The chances of developing Zika virus infection from mosquito bites obtained on a recent trip to Florida is extremely low. There have not been any Zika cases in the recent past.
