Normally, healthy legs have valves in the veins that move blood toward the heart and close not allowing backward flow of blood. Venous insufficiency, also referred to as venous reflux disease, develops when the vein valves no longer work/close appropriately and allow a backward flow (reflux) of blood in the lower legs. There are multiple treatment modalities to treat venous insufficiency (that close or stop the backward flow of blood), some of which include: Endovenous laser ablation, Radiofrequency Ablation, Clarivein, and Venaseal.
