He received part of his general surgery training at the University of Texas School of Medicine in Houston and his postgraduate training in plastic surgery from the Hospital Regional de Noviembre in Mexico City.
Additionally, he completed two post-graduate fellowships: fellowship training in hand and microsurgery from the Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery from the University of Texas School of Medicine.
On a professional level, he is an active member of the Mexican Association of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the Houston Medical Society.
Hand surgery is surgery of the hand, the wrist, and the peripheral nerves of the upper limb. It also encompasses reconstructive surgery that improves upper limb function. Many disorders and injuries of the hand are treated without surgery, using splints, taping, injections, and hand physiotherapy. Hand surgeons care for these problems with and without surgery. They are specially trained to operate when necessary. Many hand surgeons are also experts in diagnosing and caring for shoulder and elbow problems.
Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Levaro-Pano has been the recipient of the Certificate of Merit-Academic Achievement by the Facultad de Medicina, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (1985-1986).
