He serves as the Medical Director at 3 renal dialysis clinics in San Antonio, Lytle and Hondo, ensuring that patients throughout South Texas have access to specialized nephrology care.
South Texas Renal Care Group is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of kidney disease patients throughout San Antonio and South Texas. The team is composed of board certified physicians in internal medicine and nephrology who provide comprehensive treatment for hypertension, diabetic and non-diabetic kidney disease, and renal transplantation services. Patients have access to both outpatient and inpatient dialysis services, and the physicians provide quality vascular access management to ensure that dialysis treatments are highly effective and efficient.
Intrigued by how the human body worked and how to heal it when it malfunctioned, Dr. Zafar graduated with his medical degree from Sindh Medical College in Pakistan in 1986. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to serve his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in nephrology at the State University of New York.
A member of the American Society of Nephrology, he is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
