Dr. Barbara A. Tarnoski, D.M.D.
Dentist | General Practice
Dr. Tarnoski practices at Philadelphia Dental Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry, LLC. This office offers LANAP and LAPIP Laser Services. These services use the Periolase MVP-7 Laser(TM). This laser, was built specifically to treat gum disease of natural teeth (LANAP) and gum disease of implants (LAPIP). The unique wavelength targets the bacteria that causes gum disease but uses a minimally invasive, BUT highly effective treatment. With LANAP and LAPIP there is no cutting/no sewing. There is less pain. This laser stimulates YOUR OWN BODY's STEM CELLS. Your body rebuilds its own supporting tooth structures to the best of its ability. THIS IS "YOUR SECOND CHANCE" to start with a mouth free of all gum disease bacteria. All gum disease bacteria is gone in one treatment!
Good mouth care is now your future. Mouth bacteria, gum disease bacteria, are not just staying in your mouth. The research shows, bacteria in your mouth gets into your bloodstream and is traveling to your brain, liver, pancreas, kidneys, joints, bladder, (etc.). Gum Disease and ALZHEIMER'S--There is a relationship. Inflamed arteries and veins, uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, High blood sugar, Pancreatic Cancer, all have a relationship. A high percentage of these patients have or had gum disease.
Our office helps patients develop a mouth care plan. No flossing, careless brushing but you visit your dentist twice a year? Patients have their teeth in their mouth--24/7: putting food in your mouth continuously, not cleaning your mouth to remove food particles? Food particles are rotting in your mouth and along with the bacteria and this is moving all over you body and we know this can't be good. The damage from cigarettes alone has injured our bodies. You don't smoke? But what about the bacteria and the toxins roaming all over your body, this can't good. The best you can do is clean your mouth, teeth and remove the bacteria. Your significant other can also have gum disease. Close contact
transmits gum disease. Parents lack of good mouth care can affect their children.
Mouth care is major part of our office. We also work with those patients who have been in head and neck pain longer than 18 months. We work with TMJ patients but also work with patients who are still in pain.
Our office practices general dentistry.

tissue side of the upper and lower dentures. You can soak your dentures in a tablet solution overnight. While your dentures are soaking, wash your hands, and with your fingers, massage your gum tissue all around your mouth. Rinse your mouth with 1/2 tsp. salt to a 6-8 oz. glass of water. If you are worried about denture odor, you can take a plastic cup with you, salt packs are available at fast food restaurants, you can remove and rinse your dentures and mouth with salt water. (after eating, coffee break). Dentures should be removed for at least 4 hours per day. Keeping your dentures in your mouth for long periods of time is compared to going to bed with your shoes on. If you soak your dentures overnight, the solution, water, should be changed every day. Particles that you see at the bottom of your container are rotting food. Don't forget to clean your tongue. You buy a tongue cleaner or take a teaspoon, with the round side facing your pallet, place the spoon on your tongue as far back on your tongue with out gagging. GENTLY press the tsp on your tongue and scrape as you move the spoon out of your mouth. You will see a whitish slimy mass. That mass is bacteria, food particles hiding out in the nooks and crannies of your tongue. Remember you are massaging and cleaning (not RAKING LEAVES) your mouth tissues!

If you are given instructions of things you should be doing, please follow them. Your doctor will provide you with instructions if you are having any discomfort while in the office or at home.
What are the problems with dental implants?
We are now being faced with the PANDEMIC. PEOPLE THOUGHT THEY COULD FORCE OFFICIALS TO DO WHAT THEY WANT. THE VIRUS IS GOING TO KEEP GROWING AND INFECTING. THE ONLY WAY FOR US TO SURVIVE IS TO FOLLOW SCIENCE TO PROTECT OUR POPULATION. GUNS ARE USELESS AGAINST AN INVISIBLE VIRAL ENEMY. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING IMPLANTS, YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE FOLLOWING ALL THE DIRECTIONS. I HAVE WRITTEN ARTICLES AND GAVE DETAILED CORRECT FLOSSING AND CORRECT BRUSHING, AND OTHER INSTRUCTIONS. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF THIS WERE MADE AVAILABLE FOR EVERYONE.
Can you replace a crown with a veneer?
irritate the gum line tissue. When this tissue is irritated, your gum line area produces chemicals to neutralize this attack. (This IS A GOOD THING). AT THE SAME TIME, THESE CHEMICALS dissolve your attached GINGIVA. This is bad. Dissolving your attached gingiva (no matter how slowly) eventually will lead to loss of attached gingiva. Your ATTACHED GINGIVA prevents food from going down to your roots area. We all need to clean the gum area where the teeth and gum tissue meet. If you have natural teeth, you have to clean the gum-tooth area. If you have a crown, you have the crown tooth junction and your gum tissue. You have to clean this area. Even though you can't see the mico-sized smutz, it still is dissolving your gum line tissue and must be removed every day.
Why do you rinse with salt water after a root canal?
Many patients will use it once and stop. Rinsing with warm salt water should be several times a day especially after eating. Salt water kills bacteria, soothes irritated tissues.
You do not make your salt water solution too salty. Eating a whole bag of chips can make your mouth, tongue, lips and gums very irritated.
Using too hot water can burn your mouth. I never liked using cold salt water. You can use salt water and ajust the temperature you like and it is cheap. You can choose the type of water you use. If you are out, many places offer free hot water for tea. Take the hot water, add some cold water to adjust the temperature to your liking. Restaurants offer free salt packs. You can rinse your mouth as often as you like.
