Dr. Sutker is a Plano, Texas, native who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and earned his medical doctorate at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He went on to also complete his general surgical internship and residency at UC-San Francisco. He received additional fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Sutker has been in practice at Medical City Dallas since 2014 and at Medical City McKinney since 2019. He is board-certified in general surgery. Dr. Sutker manages a wide range of surgical diseases. He specializes in treating conditions with minimally invasive techniques utilizing both standard laparoscopy and robotic-assisted laparoscopy. Dr. Sutker has specialty training in the surgical treatment of obesity, acid reflux, esophageal motility disorders, and paraesophageal hernias. He is skilled in the repair of abdominal wall defects, including inguinal, umbilical, ventral, and incisional hernias. Can you have surgery if your have diabetes?

To have scheduled (elective) surgery, the preference is for your blood sugar to be less than 300, if not 250 or 200.

It depends on what you are looking for, but generally are more than 90-05% accutrate.

Tell your surgeon. If you have an infection, it could seriously compromise your surgery. If you used meth, that could put you at risk for heart complications during surgery.

How long does a subtotal colectomy surgery take?

1.5-4 hours depending on technique (open vs. laparoscopic), indication, and any previous surgery.

How long are you sedated for an endoscopy?

For a diagnostic upper endoscopy, about 20 minutes. If an intervention is to be performed, up to an hour or so.

Is colon surgery done with general anesthesia?

A colonoscopy is typically done with only sedation, but if you are having a colon resection, that is done with general anesthesia.

Are you put to sleep for thyroid surgery?

Yes. It is done with general anesthesia.

Post op laparoscopic cholecystectomy infection?
