Samantha Fazio

Physical Therapist | Orthopedic

Dr. Sam graduated from Temple University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2017. She began her career with a private outpatient company where she worked as an orthopedic therapist. In 2018, she took her super feminism toward the pelvic health specialty and achieved her pelvic health certification in 2019. She jumped briefly to hospital-based pelvic health physical therapy and saw the issues with access across the pelvic healthcare system. She founded Pelvio PT in 2021 as a way to improve patient access to care and to revolutionize pregnancy & post-partum rehabilitation in Philadelphia. Sam and her team at Pelvio specialize in birth preparation, pregnancy related physical therapy, and postpartum rehab believing that pregnancy and birth are musculoskeletal events that you can train your body for. In addition, Sam believes that being pregnant does not mean that you need to deal with pain or incontinence. There is help for you!

Hi there! Yes! Physical therapy can absolutely help with pregnancy related back aches. I always recommend going to see a physical therapist who specializes in the pelvic floor as they are typically more well versed in how pregnancy affects your musculoskeletal system. They will also provide pregnancy safe exercise/stretch recommendations that a general orthopedic PT may not know. Search for a "pelvic floor physical therapist" near you and try to get in ASAP!
