Patients come in day after day with chronic pain and decreased function in their daily lives due to years of trauma, posture, and imbalances. Low back pain is one of the most common issues I see day to day in the office and with chiropractic treatment along with exercises, stretches, and different treatments we can help improve patients' low back pain and sciatica issues. Sciatica is caused when the sciatic nerve branching off from your spinal cord is impinged or restricted. Common symptoms of sciatica include numbness, tingling, and pain in the low back which can travel into the back of the legs. This condition can be debilitating and prevent people from achieving their goals and completing their activities of daily living.
A treatment that we offer in our clinic is spinal decompression. Spinal decompression helps with various conditions like disc bulging/herniations, spinal stenosis, and other conditions. One way that spinal decompression improves sciatica pain is by increasing the disc height. Decreased disc height can impinge on the sciatic nerve causing these symptoms. The spinal decompression machine has the capability to treat the low back and neck. The machine works by giving traction to the spine at a specific level where the treatment is needed. The traction helps with re-hydrating the disc and pulling nutrients to increase the disc height after a series of treatments.
