Rhabdomyolysis

1 What is Rhabdomyolysis?

Rhabdomyolysis is a serious syndrome due to muscle injury in which destruction of skeletal muscles results in the leakage of the protein myoglobin into urine.

The muscle protein is released by the breakdown of the muscle fibers.

This condition may lead to complications like kidney failure as kidneys may not be able to remove waste and urine.

In some rare cases the condition may be fatal.
