Drospirenone – E.Estradiol – Levomefol, also known and sold under the trade name of Beyaz, is a combination of three products which are used to prevent pregnancy.

It is a birth control pill which contains two kinds of hormones – drospirenone, which is a progestin, and Ethinyl estradiol, which is an estrogen.

Their substances prevent pregnancy by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during the menstrual cycle, as well as causing the vaginal fluid to become thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg and changes the lining of the uterus to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg.

This product also contains a folate supplement. Folate is a vitamin B which helps to prevent spinal cord birth defects in an unborn baby.

The birth control may also be used to make your periods more regular, or to decrease the blood loss, help with painful periods, and decrease the risk of ovarian cysts.

This product is available in the form of a tablet.

During the consultations, inform the doctor about:

Other medical problems – Inform the doctor about your medical history, any other medical problems and conditions from the past or at the moment.

• blood disorders
• breast cancer
• diabetes
• heart attack
• heart or blood vessels problems
• heart rhythm problems
• hypertension
• kidney disease
• liver disease
• stroke
• angioedema
• depression
• hyperkalemia
• gallbladder disease

For proper use follow the directions given by your doctor. This product is taken orally. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet. The dose is individual for every patient, prescribed by the doctor.

It is usually taken once, daily. It is important to take the tablet every day at the same time. For the most beneficial effects, it is essential to take the medication regularly.

Along with its needed beneficial effects, there are also potential side effects which could occur. These side effects do not occur within all patients, also they could be mild or more serious.

Based on the present side effects, the doctor may decide to discontinue the treatment with this product if your condition worsens or does not improve.

It is essential to get informed about the potential side effects so that you would be able to notice them and inform the doctor as soon as possible.

Common side effects – nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal cramps/bloating, swelling of the ankles/feet, or weight changes. These are considered as common and not serious side effects. But, if they persist or worsen, inform the doctor right away.

Serious side effects – mood changes, dark urine, yellowing of the eyes/skin, severe abdominal/stomach pain, or changes in vaginal bleeding. If any of these serious side effects appear, inform the doctor as soon as possible.

A serious allergic reaction is very rare, but if you notice any of the following symptoms, inform the doctor as soon as possible – skin rash, itching/swelling of the hands/feet/face/tongue, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
