Ertaczo is antifungal drug used for the treatment of fungal infections. This drug kills fungi by blocking the synthesis of ergosterol which is a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This drug is applied to your skin to treat athlete's foot.

This drug requires a prescription.

2 What to Know Before Using

Before using Ertaczo, the risks and benefits for your body should be discussed with your healthcare provider. 3 Proper Usage

Ertaczo must be used exactly as directed by your healthcare professional. To prevent any side effects, take this drug exactly as directed in the label or as prescribed by your healthcare professional.

Proper hand washing is recommended before using this drug. Sertaconazole is for external use only and avoid any unnecessary contact with your eyes, nose, mouth and other mucus membranes.

This drug must be taken for the full time of treatment to ensure complete drug therapy and prevent any relapses. Refrain from using bandages or gauze unless otherwise directed by your specialist.

The dose of this drug will be variable for different patients. The directions on the label or the prescription by your healthcare professional should be followed. The dosage of this drug you take depends on the medical problem for which you are using this drug.

Adults with athlete's foot are advised to apply enough sertaconazole to cover the affected and surrounding skin areas and rub in gently. Children over the age of 12 should apply enough sertaconazole to cover the affected and surrounding skin areas and rub in gently. A missed dose should be taken as soon as possible.

However, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule if it is almost time for your next dose. Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing. Keep out of the reach of children. Dispose any outdated or expired drugs and ask your healthcare professional for the proper disposal of the drugs.

4 Precautions to Take

In using Ertaczo, you must be careful and take some precautions as advised by your doctor.

If the area of application shows signs of increased skin irritation, redness, itching, burning, blistering, swelling or oozing, contact your healthcare professional immediately. Consult with your healthcare professional immediately, if your symptoms are not improving or if your conditions become worse in 2 weeks.

5 Potential Side Effects

As with many medications, there are several potential side effects associated with Ertaczo.

Side effects may vary for each individual and prompt medical attention should be given if they occur. Seek advice from your healthcare professional immediately if you experience any unusual symptoms such as blistering, burning, crusting, dryness or flaking of skin itching, redness, skin rash, swelling, or soreness at application site, darkening of skin, dry skin, flushing and redness of skin, scaling, severe redness, soreness or swelling of skin, peeling or loosening of skin, skin tenderness, or unusually warm skin.

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine, the side effects will slowly disappear. Ask your healthcare professional about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
