Hematologist & Oncologist Questions Hematologist-Oncologist

Hemoglobin levels?

My hemoglobin was at 7.5. I have had 5 iron infusions. Will that be enough to bring it up to 11?

Five transfusions should be enough but you need to check the hemoglobin and take more if necessary. The other question is why your hemoglobin is so low. If you have heavy periods talk to your gynecologist, otherwise to your primary care.

This depends entirely on whether the cause of your anemia is entirely related to iron deficiency and whether or not you are continuing to lose blood/iron.
