How do you relieve pain after a tonsillectomy?

My son had a tonsillectomy 2 days ago. It hurts bad. How do you relieve pain after a tonsillectomy?

Tonsillectomy is painful. Prescription for Acetaminophen in syrup can be obtained from your pediatrician. At least 500mg every 4 hours if weight allows it, should help. Also eating cold food like jello may
help. Eating ice and local external ice can add some benefits. No opiates should be given.
Chlorseptic spray, lidocaine gargle, salt water gargle may be helpful.
