How many units of Lantus were you taking? 6 units are not equivalent to 6 units of Lantus (long term). The best thing that you could do is get in touch with the provider that prescribed your medication and make sure that you get it taken care of as well as continue to monitor your glucose levels every four hours and at 3 AM. They make sure you don’t have a somogyi effect.
I wish you well and thank you for asking for my assistance.

Dear patient,

Lantus and Lispro insulins are not interchangeable. Lantus is long acting over a period of 16 to 24 hours depending on dosage, and Lispro is short acting and usually used 30 minutes before meals. You should speak to your physician as he will be best able to help you as he knows your condition and other meds.

Respectfully,
