“Is acupuncture good for swollen ankles?”
My ankles are swollen and I work on my feet 5 days a week. Is acupuncture good for swollen ankles?

Yes. Acupuncture with massage and herbs can help relieve your swollen ankles gradually. I would recommend using these modalities 2-3 times a week for a couple of weeks to see improvement and get rid of this problem.
We will exam 1st. Then provide dry needling 1st. Patients will find instant results in general.
Depending on patients’ medical histories and conditions, each patient will have different responses. Patients will have to follow up in 3-7days depending on severity.
Patients will be examined again on how much difference they have experienced since the initial acupuncture treatment.
Then we can give patients a plan for symptomatology.
If we find limitations in improvements, we will apply different plans as a holistic approach.

Acupuncture may help but you should also be wearing support stockings when you are on your feet all day.

Yes, it is. It may help you relieve excess fluids. Good luck.
Hello, Acupuncture can help, but it is important to understand what could be causing the problem. In the current case, you might benefit from herbal medicine support as well.
Yes, acupuncture can be very effective in treating the causes of edema depending on the person’s health condition. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), of which acupuncture is part, there are a number of reasons why someone’s ankles swell. During your initial visit, your Licensed Acupuncturist (L Ac.) would ask you detailed questions to determine exactly what kind of edema you have and proceed accordingly. As acupuncture is a process and not a single event, it is suggested you try a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) for 3 to 6 sessions for 2-3 weeks in succession to see if acupuncture might work for you. Hope this response answered some of the questions.

Yes, along with dietary changes and herbal medicine, which is part of our scope of practice.
It depends on what's causing the swelling. If it's an injury, then yes. If it has to do with edema from heart disease, you'd have to check with the acupuncturist to see if they know how to treat that.
Acupuncture can be a good treatment for ankle swelling, but it's a really good idea to know why your ankles are swelling in the first place. Sometimes this is an indication there's something amiss with the functioning of the heart, and if that's the case it's better to know sooner rather than later.
I'd start with a visit to your primary care physician and have them rule out any cardiac issues. If your heart is fine, go to NCCAOM.org and use their "Find a Practitioner" lookup to find board certified acupuncturists in your area.
