Is it normal to be sore after the chiropractor?

After chiropractic adjustment my legs are sore. Is it normal? Should I see another chiropractor?

Soreness after an adjustment is normal, but your doctor should explain that beforehand to reduce worry on your end! The soreness stems from joints being mobilized that have not been moving optimally and as a result you feel soreness. I often describe the soreness as an equivalent of going to the gym for the first time in awhile. If you haven't worked out your shoulders in a month, they are going to be sore the next day!
Yes, some people can experience soreness following an adjustment or if any soft tissue work is performed. This is sometimes because we are manipulating joint and soft tissue that may not have been moved or used in a while. For example, if you go to the gym and lift weights, but you haven't lifted weights in 3 months... the odds are that the muscle groups you worked during your workout will be sore over the next few dyas. If you are feeling increased pain following adjustments or soreness that is not resolving, it is best to talk to your provider.
Hello, Thanks for reaching out. It's possible to be sore after a chiropractor works on you. However, it's hard to advise since I'm not sure what treatment was performed. I'm happy to chat if you'd like to call our office. Best, *Dr. Shaina Lewinski* 248.963.0589 Centered Chiropractic 455 S. Livernois Rd, Suite B11 Rochester Hills, MI 48316 www.centeredchiro.com
Yes, some soreness may occur post treatment
It can be for sure. It all depends on what is going on with the patient. When there is new or more movement, the tissue can be inflamed in response. It is not a bad thing. Good advice would be to drink more water and ice the sore areas. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.
Yes for multiple reasons. Depending on how you were adjusted some of the muscles and tendons may be stretched. The adjustment allows better motion in the joint and the muscle needs to stretch and change to accommodate the new joint range. You most likely had inflammation in the area of the subluxation so the area will stay sore and possibly increase some for a short period of time
It is normal to be sore after an adjustment. Some people get sore and some people dont. Depending on where you get sore in your legs, I am assuming your thighs, it means you have probably been walking differently due to your hips being out of alignment. Once your chiropractor adjusts your hips, your leg muscles are probably sore from moving differently than what they once were. If that is not the scenario youre experiencing, I would ask your chiropractor to adjust you differently. Such as, if they do side posture ask them to do drops. If they only utilize one type of technique, then seek out a different chiropractor. Also always mention to them if you were sore after an adjustment and where. Sometimes the chiropractor will automatically change up their adjusting style for you. Thank you for your time! Hi there and thank you for the question. I'd have to know more about what the visit entailed because if they did muscle work/soft tissue, then yes I'd expect there to be soreness, however if that wasn't done, no that's not normal.

Sincerely,

Chiropractic adjustments involve realigning the spine to relieve pressure on the nerves. Since muscles are attached to the bones, there could be a little soreness. Think of it in terms of going to the gym and doing an intense workout. You're more than likely going to be a little sore the next day. The good news is that the soreness doesn't or shouldn't last very long and you will begin to reap the benefits of having your body back in perfect balance, pain relief, better circulation, better flexibility, more strength, etc.
It is completely normal to be sore after the chiropractic adjustment, especially for your first few weeks of care. Remember, a chiropractor is changing your spinal alignment and posture. This is new change for your body. Just like a new exercise regimen, which can make you sore at first. The chiropractic adjustment and prescribed rehab exercises can create soreness too. Don't worry, the soreness will pass with time as your body gets acclimated. Drink plenty of water, and feel free to ice any sore spot after the visit, 20 minutes on, 30 minutes off. You can repeat this 3 times.
