There are various types of arthritis. For example: Rheumatoid, Osteoarthritis, gouty, psoriatic etc. it depends on stages of arthritis. See your primary care to get evaluation and he/she will refer you either to Orthopedic or Rheumatologist depending on type and stage of arthritis.
Usually it’s pain management, steroid injection, or surgery
Rheumatologists are usually the M.D.s who treat arthritis non-surgically. Orthopedic surgeons can also treat arthritis non-surgically, but can also treat surgically (joint replacement, when warranted).
A medical doctor - Rheumatologist or a surgeon - Orthopedic surgeon both will treat arthritis.

Hope it helps!!

Arthritis can be treated by your PCP with medication and PT. When it is severe enough, you will be referred to an orthopedic surgeon to discuss surgical treatment.
