Dentist Questions Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Bleeding 2 days after tooth extraction. Is it ok?

I had a wisdom tooth extraction two days ago, and the area where I had my tooth pulled is still bleeding. Is this normal?

Some bleeding for 2-3 days after extraction is a normal situation after oral surgery. Very minimal bleeding is to be expected, not a Niagara Falls, but a little pink and a blood taste to be expected.
Depending on the amount of bleeding. Slight bleeding is normal.
Depends on how much it is bleeding. It may have a tendency to ooze a bit for several days and it always seems worse when mixed with saliva.
It is not normal. You should go back to your oral surgeon for an evaluation.
Yes, It is fine to have bleeding 2 days later. If you are on a blood thinner or aspirin daily, you will see this. Also, with some medical conditions you see this. Please call the office that removed the tooth and consult with them. They should be available to speak with you before the weekend, or even next week. You can try placing a used herbal tea bag over the area as well, sometimes that is an old fashioned remedy that can help.
Sometimes when an extraction has been difficult, you might notice tinge of blood seeping out. Call your dentist office and have them take a look. Biting on an teabag also helps. And make sure you are following the post-op instructions your dentist gave you, in particular avoiding any hot/hard food and/or drinks.

Hope this helps,
