Can I take painkillers for gas pain?

I am a 16-year-old female and I have gas pains very often. Can I take painkillers for gas pain?

No, that is not a good solution. Certain pain medications will slow down your intestines & make your gas pain worse. Instead, drink more water, exercise daily & talk to your pediatrician about other diet changes.

Identifying what the pain is from is the key to finding the right treatment. You may need to see a gastro specialist to help figure it out. If you do have excessive gas, then it is better to alter the diet to reduce gas rather than give pain medications. Lower carbohydrates in the diet will help reduce gas.
