Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions Wisdom Teeth

Can wisdom teeth cause canker sores?

I felt my wisdom tooth coming earlier this year, and on the left side, bottom of my mouth, I keep getting a canker sore. Could this be from my wisdom tooth?

It is more likely an ulceration from infection around the tooth. It may not be able to erupt completely, and should be evaluated to see if it needs removal.
It's possible. If it is directly around the wisdom tooth, it is more likely "pericoronitis," chronic inflammation of the loose gum that will never go away until the wisdom tooth is removed.
I have never heard such a thing. More likely you have an ulcer or an infection because of the wisdom tooth.
Exactly/specifically.....No.  Only other sores from biting or coming into position like the other teeth. Many times the area will get infected, making things worse.
Yes, of course in most cases during the eruption of wisdom teeth, the same kind of sores may be associated with that process. But my recommendation is to see a dentist to make sure that it is, because other conditions may also be a result of sores and cankers.
Trauma to the soft tissue inside the mouth can leave that area susceptible to getting a canker sore. An erupting wisdom tooth could do this. The area you think is a canker sore could be one of several other things as well. Your best answer would be from a dentist who has examined the area. Sounds like it needs attention right away to prevent possible bigger problems.
Thank you for your question.
Yes. Pericoronitis is common with an erupting wisdom tooth. Sometimes there is not enough space for another toothbin the mouth and you bite your cheek. This can cause the ulceration in your mouth.
