General Practitioner Questions Urinary Tract Infections

Why does my father feel cold with the chills and then later on feels very warm and is sweating?

Symptoms of UTI, but why does he feel very cold and then suddenly feels very warm? He has a high fever, frequent urination, profuse sweating, body pains, and is a stroke patient.

Defintaely amenable to the diagnosis of UTI. IF he hasn't received treatment for that, he should see his doctor to get that. UTIs can be dangerous if left untreated. They can cause sepsis, which can be fatal.
I am afraid your father may be developing pyelonephritis as he is showing symptoms of UTI with fever and chills. This condition warrants blood and urine culture and antibiotic therapy as soon as possible. Please take your father to ER asap. Given his co-morbidities and history of stroke, he may need inpatient treatment.
