I am a 42 year old female. I wonder how common are crimes of passion?

The average American has only 1.1% chance of becoming victim of violent crime of passion at any given time. In England and Wales, the risks of happening to someone are tripled in comparison to the U.S figures when homicides are removed from the equation. Thank you.
Depending upon the city you live in, homicides are not that common compared to all the natural deaths, suicides and accidents. Many homicides are committed during a crime and are stranger against stranger homicides. A small percent of homicides are between people that know one another, and a smaller percent are between two people that are involved in a relationship with one another.
