How do I know if I have appendicitis?

I am a 17-year-old who is having severe pain above my hipbone in my right side. It has been getting worse over the past few days and hurts to stand. How do I know if I have appendicitis?

You have to visit your doctor to be examined or go to the Urgent Care center.
You need to go to the doctor tomorrow and if you cannot see your doctor, go to the ER and tell them what you said in this request. You can die from a bad appendix and it is never good to chance doing nothing. When you do see a doctor, ask a lot of questions.

I do wish you well,

You need to get an ultrasound or cat scan of your abdomen. Also, get a urine test and blood test. Call your primary care physician or go to emergency room for the tests.
Appendicitis can be present as right lower quadrant abdominal pain. The "classic" presentation is diffuse abdominal pain, sometimes around the belly button, that then migrates and localizes to the right lower quadrant. It may be associated with fevers, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you are concerned, you should seek care from your primary physician, an urgent care clinic, or the emergency room.
