yes. I encourage you to book a session with your practitioner of choice to get help with relief.
I only use it on the back of the neck and not over the spine.
Yes, if administered by a licensed acupuncturist.
Yes safe!

Yes acupuncture from a licensed practitioner is safe in neck areas and in the others too.
Any practitioner who is somewhat familiar with the anatomy of the neck will carefully place needles to the required depth that is safe for that area. Generally, I don't insert a needle much more than a quarter of an inch, depending on the area. A needle can go in at an angle as well to get a further depth. I would strongly suggest NOT getting dry needling, which is trigger point insertions with no training of acupuncture meridians and the implications of treatment. A licensed acupuncturist goes through at least 3 years of extensive training, both of a western and eastern perspective and formulates a TCM diagnosis based on your symptoms as well as details from your health history. Acupuncture treats the whole person and not just the problem. So the acupoints chosen for your diagnosis are based on symptoms, pulse and tongue diagnosis, co-morbid conditions, sleep patterns, digestion and so on. Besides, the problems/pain in your neck may stem from elsewhere and need to be treated accordingly. So make sure your practitioner is a licensed acupuncturist to ensure safety with needling and the best outcome of treatment. Good luck!!!
Hello, and thank you for your question.

I have been treating various degrees of neck pain and injury for 10 years, and I can tell you that acupuncture in the neck from a properly trained and qualified acupuncture practitioner is very safe. Furthermore, it can be a very effective and efficient treatment for both recent and chronic neck pain. Be sure to see an acupuncturist who treats pain and is fully trained and licensed, and you will be in good hands.
There are quite a few acupuncture points on the neck. It is very safe to have them needled by a well-trained acupuncturist.

Most of times it is very safe. Ask your acupuncturist not to do on the neck if you do not feel confortable. Your acupuncturist will be able to show how deep it goes in and what direction in order to educate you to give you peaceful mind. However I would recomend you discuss this with your acupuncture doctor.
In my practice it is very safe and I do it all the time.
Yes completely safe if treated by a licensed acupuncturist!
Absolutely. I treat neck and throat issues 40-50 times per week (for 6 years now) and never had a single issue. Mild bruising is potential but that isn’t a risk, it’s more of a cosmetic issue for the few days before it heals.
Yes, it is safe, as long as you are using a licensed acupuncturist. I use points on the neck frequently for many different issues.

Hi,

It depends on the location of the neck. Most acupuncture points are safe, but has to be done by a licensed acupuncturist.
Thank you.
Thank you for your question.

Yes, acupuncture is safe, in general, and a very low risk procedure. Points in the neck are very commonly used (particularly the ones located in the muscles along the bones of the spine on both sides at the base of the skull and neck). As with any needle, the risks are bleeding, infection, or puncturing a tissue not meant to be punctured. A skilled acupuncturist generally is able to keep a patient safe from these risks. Ask your acupuncturist if they have ever had any problems. You should feel comfortable talking with them about your treatment or concerns, and confident in their skills.

Be well,

Good morning,

Acupuncture treatment is safe for the neck, as long as it's provided by a licensed practitioner.

It is safe to have acupuncture in the neck if the acupuncturist knows how to practice acupuncture in the neck. Otherwise, it is not safe because some points in the neck are very important for life, if it causes bleeding in the brain during acupuncture.
Absolutely. We are well trained and no harm will come to your neck or any other part of your body.
yes
Yes, provided your practitioner is fully trained in acupuncture and has a master's degree level training and/or at least 10 years experience. I don't do many needles in the neck normally and would probably not put a single needle in that area if you came to my office seeking acupuncture to treat it. But that's just my philosophy. You might want to look into finding a practitioner versed in Richard Tan's methods.
Most acupuncturists have fairly good training, so it is safe in general.
Yes it is very safe .
Yes. So long as your treatment is being administered by a certified or licensed acupuncturist, acupuncture throughout the body is completely safe.
Yes, it is safe.
Yes. Acupuncture is very safe.
When performed by a board certified and state licensed acupuncturist, yes. Broadly speaking, acupuncturists fall in to two camps: those who treat by placing needles in the location experiencing an issue (local needlers) and those who treat by placing needles in other places, but not in the location experiencing an issue (distant needlers). If your problem is neck pain, see if you can find a licensed acupuncturist in your area who practices Tung or Tan or "distant" style acupuncture. These folks will be able to address your pain without having to place needles in your neck. If you're not in CA, you can go to NCCAOM.org and use their "Find a Practitioner" lookup. This will give you a list of local providers. Then you can call around and see who practices a "distant" style.
