What can I do about my hip pain?

I would recommend seeing a doctor that specifically addresses joint alignment and the muscular structures that attach to the hip joint. This can be a chiropractor, and osteopath or a PT. A sports medicine chiropractor specifically addresses muscular imbalances along with structural imbalances. There are chiropractors and osteopaths that don’t address the musculature, in my experience, which can be an issue that can lead to early onset of degenerative hip disease if left untreated. My concern if you were to go to a general practitioner is that they may only give you anti-inflammatories or pain medications without having the knowledge on how to address the root cause. The previously mentioned doctors will be able to assess the root cause of your hip pain. I hope this helps. Happy healing!

Chronic neck pain can develop due to a number of causes. Chiropractic care helps to realign the structure of the cervical spine (the neck) so that the vertebra are in an optimal position to create stability in the neck as well as optimal functionality of the joints and soft tissue in the neck (as well as the rest of the spine). Most often in today's society, people are looking down at their phones or computer screens for hours a day which alters the alignment of the neck over time, stressing the discs, ligaments and tendons. This is usually a gradual process that requires time to heal with chiropractic care. Each adjustment helps to correct the spinal misalignments, training the soft tissues to hold the vertebra in a more ideal position reducing the stress on the spine and the adjacent structures, therefore reducing discomfort and pain. There are also neurological components that are involved with chiropractic. When the vertebra are out of alignment it alters the communication from the brain to the body via the nerves that exit out of the spinal column. Adjustments also help to restore proper nerve function so that the brain and body can better communicate to allow your tissues to repair and heal to their best of their ability.
I hope this helps your understanding of how chiropractic can help to reduce physical stress on neck to help relieve pains well as restore neurological function.

Can sciatica pain extend to my leg?

It depends on if the problem stems from compression or traction of the sciatic nerve. I often find with patients that what appears to be sciatic pain is actually trigger points found within the gluteal musculature. It would take a thorough examination to come to a correct diagnosis. Have someone apply deep pressure in the location of the CT and if a trigger point is present, it will either recreate the sensation that you are feeling or it will intensify the sensation. There is also the possibility of a tight piriformis muscle compressing the sciatic nerve in the buttocks. Google piriformis stretches to see if those help to alleviate your issues. I would highly recommend seeking a medical professional that is proficient in assessing these areas, i.e., sports medicine chiropractor, neuromuscular therapist (NMT), PT, etc., if you find that the problem persists.
I hope this info helps.
