I try to keep my patients well by following the guidelines of the American College of Physicians and the United States Preventive Services Task Force for preventive care. This includes the following guidelines for proper nutrition and exercise. I have a teaching program for nutrition and weight loss. I try to follow guidelines for prevention and care of elevated lipids, hypertension, diabetes, and the use of tobacco. These are all important for preventing heart disease and stroke. I try to follow guidelines for screening and prevention of cervical cancer, cancer of the breast, colon, prostate, and lung. I try to encourage immunization against influenza, pneumonia, shingles, and hepatitis. I provide medical assisted treatment of addiction. Our practice provides the same service to all patients regardless of income.
I am very pleased to be included in the panel of physicians recommended by Top Doc. I am board-certified in Internal Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. My undergraduate education was at Cornell University. My medical education was at the Medical College of Virginia. I completed a residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY at Buffalo. I practiced primary care medicine in Buffalo and taught in the Department of Medicine at SUNY Buffalo. I took a second residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Washington. For many years I was the medical director of the inpatient rehabilitation unit at the Albany Medical Center and I was a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Albany Medical College. My responsibilities were to manage the medical problems of the patients on the rehabilitation unit and to supervise their therapies. While I was at Albany Medical College, I published 30 original research papers and book chapters.
In 2017, I took my retirement from the medical college and went to work as a primary care physician at St. Peter’s Family Health Center. My practice has an emphasis on preventive care.
