You should be instructed to start rinsing with salt water the following day. I recommend to my patients that you rinse 3 to 5 times per day for 7 to 10 days.

Coffee after the procedure is usually allowed, however you are going to want to let the coffee cool down before drinking it. You do not want to increase the chance of post-op bleeding. Cold things are better.
